Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actress who is known for her role as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Her name is currently her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since when she was a child and won a Best Actress award at a Maryland high school competition. Following her time in theater as well as with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting diploma from New York University. Her first major role as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought the most respect. After that, she appeared in movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria during seven years had a wide range of adventures and cultural encounters from an early age. She attended an boarding school in London between 7 and 9 years. Later, her family moved from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a student and an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school, where she did not only dance but studied theater as well. Contractor was 16 when she realized that performing would become her profession. She danced for almost 10 year. Upon graduating from high school she was awarded a full award to the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. After a single semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the production Pericles in the highly regarded famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. The 92 productions she performed received acclaim from Canadian reviewers. Contractor was offered the opportunity to enroll in Stratford's conservatory course, in which a select eight men and four women are accepted for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she eagerly took. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season and was given the part of Hermia.
